Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), will invest up to £14.3 million from UKRI. This is subject to a sufficient number of high quality applications being received.
The aim of this competition is to accelerate the adoption of quantum enabled position, navigation, and timing (PNT) and sensing technologies by addressing specific technical and commercial barriers.
Your proposal must identify one or more barriers to adoption for a specific quantum enabled technology and propose an innovative solution to address them.
In applying to this competition, you are entering into a competitive process. This competition has a funding limit, so we may not be able to fund all the proposed projects. It may be the case that your project scores highly but we are still unable to fund it.
Our experience from similar competitions suggests that you could have 30% chance of success.

Zero Emission Vessels and Infrastructure 2: Electric Power

Description
Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), will work with the Department for Transport (DfT) to invest up to £150 million in innovation projects. These projects will develop, deploy and operate innovative clean maritime solutions for three years in a real world environment.
The Zero Emission Vessel and Infrastructure Round 2 (ZEVI 2) competition is part of a suite of interventions launched by the UK Shipping Office for Reducing Emissions (UK SHORE) programme.
UK SHORE aims to transform the UK into a global leader in the design and manufacturing of clean maritime technology and accelerate the fuels and technologies required to decarbonise the sector to meet net zero. This competition supports the delivery of the UK Government’s Maritime Decarbonisation Strategy.
The overall aim of this competition is to fund UK business led development and build of innovative clean maritime technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Successful projects will be required to demonstrate their technology for three years without funding support.
The three strands of the competition will fund:
• alternative fuel vessels
• alternative fuel bunkering and storage infrastructure within ports
• 100% battery electric vessels
• vessel charging infrastructure
• shore power and port energy infrastructure
• vessel energy efficiency technology
Alternative fuels are defined in the Scope section.
Your proposal must build, deploy and operate for three years innovative clean maritime technologies focussed on on-vessel technologies and any related shoreside infrastructure, including at ports, harbours, inland waterways, marinas and offshore.
The ZEVI 2 competition is funding technology development and build across three strands:
• Zero Emission Vessels and Infrastructure 2: Alternative Fuels
• Zero Emission Vessels and Infrastructure 2: Electric Power (this strand)
• Zero Emission Vessels and Infrastructure 2: Energy Efficiency
The Alternative Fuels strand will fund the development and build of innovative alternative fuel vessels and accompanying port refuelling infrastructure.
The Electric Power strand will fund the development and build of:
• innovative 100% battery electric vessels and accompanying charging infrastructure, and
• novel, innovative and commercially viable shore power systems including related energy infrastructure at ports and any accompanying vessel upgrades
The Energy Efficiency strand will fund the development and build of innovative vessel energy efficiency technology and any accompanying innovative infrastructure upgrades.
Your demonstration must include the vessels and any infrastructure being used in a representative real world operational environment for a period of three years.
It is your responsibility to ensure you submit your application to the correct strand for your project. You will not be able to transfer your application and it will not be sent for assessment if it is out of scope.

Your project’s total eligible costs must be between £6 million and £60 million. Your project must have a maximum total project grant funding request of no more than £30 million, of which no more than £20 million can be allocated to a single participant.

IA Resilience call reinforcing Europe's strenght in health

Expected Outcome: the proposals under this call are expected to address one or more of the following subjects : • Enhanced personalized monitoring, care and treatments, focusing on the development of highly customized healthcare solutions, including the required research and diagnostic tools, tailored to individual needs, covering various scenarios such as chronic disease management, physiotherapy, precision diagnosis, personalized medicine/treatment, pre- and postoperative care, and daily assistance in homes and common spaces. It also targets effective management of chronic diseases and elderly care through personalized monitoring and interventions facilitated by advanced sensor technologies and edge-to-cloud solutions. This includes the development and integration of solutions for Hospitalization at Home, enabling patients to receive complex, remotely supervised care using intelligent medical devices capable of sensing, analysing, and transmitting real-time data. This requires a continuum, from in-hospital diagnostics to robust, long-term patient support at home via AI-driven care pathways and hospitalization at home. • Prevention and treatment of diseases, allowing the improved scientific understanding, early detection and proactive prevention of diseases through scientific research, continuous monitoring, predictive analytics, and timely alerts, possibly powered by AI algorithms. This preventive approach enables early intervention and significantly reduces risks associated with many illnesses such as viral infections (e.g. epi- and pan demics), cardiovascular diseases, diabetes complications affecting the health of the young and old. • Efficient, scalable, and cost-effective healthcare, demonstrating how ECS-based technologies can streamline clinical workflows, reduce administrative burdens, and improve resource allocation in healthcare systems. This includes automation and intelligent operations management across clinical, diagnostic, and homecare settings, ultimately improving cost-effectiveness and scalability. • Secure and compliant healthcare continuum, including solutions that ensure robust data protection and regulatory compliance (e.g. GDPR), particularly in handling sensitive health data. Projects should adopt privacy-by-design principles and implement secure data handling architectures using localized edge computing, encryption, authentication, and anonymization strategies within both clinical and assisted living environments. • Seamless interoperability across devices, systems, and platforms, addressing the integration of heterogeneous systems across the edge-to-cloud continuum. Solutions should rely on open standards and modular architectures to ensure interoperability, flexibility, and adaptability across various healthcare settings and use cases, fostering a unified European health-tech ecosystem.

DRIVE35 (Driving Research and Investment in Vehicle Electrification) is a Department for Business and Trade led programme aimed at transforming the UK's automotive industry. This is achieved by supporting R&D and the commercial scale up of innovative zero emission vehicle technologies, and unlocking capital investment in zero emission vehicles, batteries and their wider supply chain.
The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) will work with Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK (APC) and the automotive industry and academia, to invest up to £20 million in innovation projects. This is subject to a sufficient number of high quality applications being received.
The DRIVE35 Innovation Fund is part of a long term commitment for the driving growth sectors within the governments Industrial Strategy.
The aim of DRIVE35 Innovation is to support R&D projects that design, develop and manufacture strategically important technologies in the automotive sector.
Your project will support the UK’s transition to zero emission vehicles and a pathway to a net zero automotive industry.
Your proposal must:
• support growth, transition and security of the UK’s automotive supply chain, increasing capability whilst improving productivity, efficiency and competitiveness
• contribute to the UK’s strategic aims and priorities, such as His Majesty’s Government’s Industrial Strategy as well as the Automotive Council’s Roadmaps and Strategic technology areas
• enable future scale vehicle manufacture and strengthen high value production for domestic or export markets
• deliver on-vehicle technologies or enable manufacturing capabilities which support the transition to zero emission vehicles
• target post project commercialisation with clear articulation on how the innovation will be brought to market or used in an industrial setting
• create and safeguard high value jobs during the project and through post project impact, which create a lasting economic benefit to the UK
• support securing long term R&D investment

Digital enablers and building-blocks for Earth Observation and Satellite telecommunication for Space solutions (Space Partnership)

Expected Outcome: The topic encompasses actions within the scope of the co-programmed European Partnership on Globally Competitive Space Systems (‘Space Partnership’) in the areas of satellite communication (SatCom), Earth Observation (EO) and New Commercial Space Transportation Solutions and is part of cohesive activities in the domain of digital developments under the grand heading of “digitalisation for commercial space solutions”. Digitalisation is a major enabler for enhancing the value of an End-to-End EO and SatCom system. Under the area of Using Space on Earth related to SatCom and EO, below this topic focus on the fast increment of the Low to Mid TRL level building blocks for key technologies [1] required to strengthen competitiveness in these domains. Projects are expected to contribute to one or several of the following outcomes: New commercial services and applications enabled by increased digitalisation of space solutions; Favouring a competitive and sustainable European Space Sector; Enable the European Space Industry to maintain a significant share of the global connectivity market; Next generation Earth observation and SatCom payloads, technologies and processing means (on ground and in space); Security of SatCom and EO services, supporting next-generation technologies for both ground and space commercial applications; Improved access to satellite data through interoperable systems. This will contribute to developing, deploying global, more flexible and reactive space-based services applications, to contribute to fostering the EU's space sector competitiveness, as stated in the expected impact of this destination. Scope: The areas of R&I, which needs to be addressed to tackle the above-mentioned expected outcomes are: R&I on End-to-End SatCom Mission capabilities for current and future satellite networks interoperability including both space and ground-based assets, and digital on-ground infrastructure to test and enhance operational efficiency; R&I on Earth Observation equipment, subsystems, applications and services, improving the End-to-End timeliness of an EO system and enhanced resolution, miniaturisation of instrument designs and digital techniques and technologies to support operations and harmonisation enabling interoperability among multiple EO missions; R&I on building blocks and processes common to EO and SatCom systems, such system resources usage optimisation, high-performance processing payload H/W to support space network capabilities including an improvement in downlink and tasking capabilities of the European infrastructure, RF and optical hybrid ground stations for anchoring services and quantum technologies adaptation for space application. Proposals may contribute to one or more of the above R&I areas, however the main area addressed must be clearly and unambiguously identified in the proposal text. Proposals are expected to promote cooperation between different actors (industry, SMEs, research institutions and infrastructures and academia) and consider opportunities to quickly turn technological innovation into commercial use in space. It is expected that projects make use of existing EU technologies and/or building blocks, including at component level, contributing to EU non-dependence and strengthen competitiveness, and this should be clearly presented in the proposal. Furthermore, proposed activities should be complementary to H2020 and Horizon Europe funded projects, national activities and activities funded by the European Space Agency (ESA). This topic contributes to the implementation of the European Partnership on ‘Globally Competitive Space Systems’ (GCSS). In this topic, the integration of the gender dimension (sex and gender analysis) in research and innovation content should be addressed only if relevant in relation to the objectives of the research effort. Technology Readiness Level - Technology readiness level expected from completed projects Activities are expected to achieve TRL 4-5 by the end of the project. The reference TRL definition is the ISO 16290:2013 applicable to the space sector.
